Lipomas

by John
(Kinsman, Ohio)

My 3 1/2 year old border collie developed a huge lipoma the size of 2 decks of cards on her side.

I was feeding Exclusive brand Lamb and Rice Formula only to find out the Lamb might have cause the tumor development.

I had the tumor removed from her (non cancerous) at the End of February 2010 ... only to have a lump appear just above the to of the large incision on her side. I'm thinking a missed piece of the original tumor.

I just changed the diet of both border collies to Infinia holistic chicken and rice to eliminate more grains and even bought Infinia Turkey and Chicken to eliminate all grains.

I know the food has to do with this lipoma. What do I feed her?

Thank you...
John

Hi John,

Many pet parents share your concern about their dogs and lipoma's. It's fairly common we believe because of the commercial foods, stress and lack of fresh foods many dogs are subject to.

There is a good article on this site that Kris wrote about Lipoma's. It's at http://www.411-for-dogs.com/lipomas-fatty-tumors.html.

She don't go into the diet a lot because that may only be a part of it.

We recommend you seek the help of a holistic vet who can examine your dog and recommend products (food and supplements) to balance her body.

You're on the right track getting off so many grains and into a premium food. The holistic vet and us will probably recommend a raw or partial raw food diet.

Most dogs are missing the vital nutrient that they naturally get from raw foods and that's causing so many problems.

No dog should ever be on a dry food only diet, that's completely opposite of the way nature intended our dogs to thrive on.

There are more good articles on this site that talk about fresh food diets, supplements and proper exersize. Please continue to do your research for what's best for your little girl.

Seek out a holistic vet so you can get the proper diagnosis and recommended products to help keep her lipoma's under control

If there is anything else we can do, let us know.

Roger
