Healthy Dog

Happy, healthy dogs are what all of us want. Helping dogs get healthy has been our passions for years. Ever since we helped Molaki, our 16 year old Husky Hybrid, overcome severe allergies we've been on a quest to help people with similar issues.

Dogs have been around for centuries. They've given us comfort, security, greater hunting abilities and many other attributes that no other animal has achieved.

Through modern science we've been able to help dogs get through some debilitating diseases, cancers and many other issues. It's only right we achieve this since most of these problems have been brought on by us. The wrong dog food has led to many of these problems including allergies.

In Alfred Plechner, D.V.M. book titled Allergies: Remedies for an Epidemic, he paints a dismal picture for the future of our pets.

He states:

"Because many commercial foods are woefully deficient in key nutrients, the long-term effect of feeding such foods makes the dog hyper-sensitive to its environment. It’s a dinosaur effect. Animals are being programmed for disaster, for extinction. Many of them are biochemical cripples with defective adrenal glands unable to manufacture adequate cortisol, a hormone vital for health and resistance to disease."

Start the healing by reading our About Dog Food page on Dog Food. Learn what we feed and why. If you're feeding a commercial dog food then prepare for some eye openers. If you're feeding nothing but dry food, learn the possible consequences of not having a healthy dog.

The second concern you may have is with your dog's allergies. Go to the Dog Allergies page and learn more. Changing the diet fixes most. Learn some other techniques that will improve the skin and coat as well.

Supplements play a vital role in keeping your dog healthy, happy and out of the vet's office. Adding a good multivitamin, enzymes (if you’re not feeding raw) and probiotic’s will keep his internal system going strong.

Go to our Dog Supplements page to see how easy it is to incorporate some vital supplements into his diet.

Animal Protein Deficiencies

When your dog does not get enough proteins in his diet, they develop an imbalance of nutrients. You may see one or more of the following symptoms.

• Chronic skin or ear infections
• Epilepsy
• Cancers
• Spinning is circles or chasing his tail
• Aggression
• Timidity
• Lack of pigmentation
• Excessive shedding
• Crooked whiskers
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Loss of appetite
• Slow to heal from wounds
• Weakened immune system

Keeping healthy dog is your responsibility. I've seen a number of people who come into the store and want to just buy dry food. I ask if they need any canned food or raw. I get the answer; I just don't want to mess with that stuff. I try to inform these people of the importance of moisture, enzymes and such in the dog's diet but they just don't want to listen. They are a least feeding a premium dry foods. Those will definitely help. Please do the little extra things to round out your dog's diet. It will keep him around a lot longer and make your dog, a healthy dog. Read our pages on food and supplements and see if you can incorporate some of them into his diet.
