Taken a few years back at a company party, it was one of the rare moments when all four of us stood still long enough for a photo.
From left to right: Adam, Roger, Kristina and Joe.
Roger and Kristina McLeskey have been around animals most of our lives. Roger has grown up with dogs, cats, cows, pigs, chickens, turkey’s, horses and was in the High School Rodeo program. Kristina as well grew up with cats and dogs.
After we were married, we moved into an old farm house on five acres. There we raised our dogs and cats along with chickens and ducks and a horse or two.
We started our nutritional training out of a need to help one of our dogs. Always believing what the bags of dog food and the vet told us, we didn’t know where to turn when we needed help the most.
Through research we found that our dog Molaki had flea and wheat allergies together. Once discovered we also uncovered the truth out about the benefits of feeding a raw based diet. After we did away with the fleas and got rid of the grains out of his diet, he returned to good health.

We soon switched our other dog and cats into this new found nutritional program. The results were tremendous. Our pet flourished in good health.
Kristina wanted to start a small business doing something for animals. She started a pet gift basket business named Beastie Baskets. Mostly internet sales she ran this for about two years.
Being a stay-at-home mom and running two home businesses, it was'n long before she wanted out of the house and to build a retail business.
We wanted to do more than just the gift baskets to be successful. We also wanted to teach better nutrition for pets. So many people have been duped by big bag dog food companies about proper pet nutrition; we thought it best to help as many as we could with the truth.

So in 2006 we changed the basket business name to Beastie Boutique and opened a retail store. We offered the best premium natural dog and cat food as well as the best supplements. The store also offers pet fashions, accessories, breed specific gifts and since 2008, professional grooming.

The four of us went on a train ride one year to pick out our Christmas tree up the Columbia Gorge. It was a great trip and we picked out a fantastic tree.
From our store we have helped hundreds of people with their pets needs. We’ve spent countless hours discussing proper nutritional needs for pets.
The community has been very grateful and our customer’s pets are gaining better health. Word of mouth has allowed us to grow our business.
To help spread the word further out, we decided to build this web site with real information that we’ve learned.
Beau takes a nap in our hotel room after a long morning walking on the beach. Beau came to us as a stray back in 2007. We fostered him for a while trying to find him a home. He was kind of wild back them and the one home we found for him, brought him back.
Coming to work with us each day has settled him down. He enjoys his food a little too much. He came to us very malnourished. He doesn’t have that problem no more. Trying to control the Beagle/Basset's appetite has been a big job. He's worth it...We’ve spent many hours consulting with holistic veterinarians, regular vets, text books and the school of hard knocks to get to the level we are at.
We hope you enjoy this web site and are able to learn as we did about proper pet nutrition.
As always, if you have any questions or suggestions about improving this site, do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you,
Roger & Kristina McLeskey
Molaki loves playing in the snow. Being half wolf, half husky, his thick fur keeps him extremely warm. Molaki was the one who started us learning pet nutrition. He's a big tough boy but little fleas and wheat got the best of him. We got the fleas treated and put him on grain-free food and raw foods. Soon he found the relief he needed and the good health that would last him a long time.

Our other big dog named Taz. She loves the snow as well. Taz is half Malamute and half American Eskimo. She's a beautiful girl who loves to run, play and have fun. She is the reason we got Molaki. She needed that companionship to play and sleep with. This took a big load off of us. Instead of shredding our arms and legs she played with Molaki.

Kris on her horse Zinger. She loves to ride when she had time. Kris and Zinger spent many hours together on many trials. Zinger was an Arabian. He loved to get a little frisky now and then but that just showed he had spirit. We lost Zinger a couple of years ago. He lived to a ripe old age of 25.

Baxter playing in the Pacific Ocean. He loved it at the beach. Splashing, playing, chasing Sea Gulls and running free. His little legs are fairly short. He would get high-centered at many turns but he would power through. Baxter came to us as a stray in 2007. He is what they call a Piebald Dachshund. How could someone abandon this little guy is something else. We tried for a long time to find his home but nobody would come forward. He’s got it made now. That’s an advantage of having parents who own a pet nutrition store.

This is Bailey, our little female Beagle. She is very quite and shy around people. Dog’s, she has no problems. We raised her from 8 weeks old, took her everywhere and socialized her with lots of people. She just would not get over this fright. After she got to know you a little bit, she would be fine. Some trainers say if she was the runt of the litter, it may be to deeply ingrained into her. We used several methods to get her to come out of her shell. They all failed. Forcing the issue would lead her to go overboard with fright to the point of having medical problems. So if you ever come into our store, you probably will not get to see her. She usually spends her time there under Roger’s desk in a bed.

This is Joe with a couple of Sturgeon caught on the Columbia River near buoy 10. After graduating from High School with an Eagle Scout under his belt, Joe joined the Marines. He spent his 4 year term training and traveling to many countries. He spent the last 6 months with a tour in Iraq. Recently home now he’s looking forward to going to college on the GI Bill.

Adam and his girl friend Mary (both work part-time in our store)are getting ready to go to the prom. He loved playing sports but was sidelined with an injury. Working on cars took over as a fun past-time and continues to be. After graduating Adam is working as a Mechanic as he’s going to college looking to join Bonneville Power Administration.

Stopping to take a break in Hood River Oregon after a nice river cruise. The Columbia River and the whole Columbia River Gorge is a beautiful place.

This was at Texas Stadium in Dallas Texas. Visiting Roger’s sister and husband who live in Plano has its advantages. Not that the Dallas Cowboys are our favorite team, it was still a blast to get a tour of the stadium.

The White Salmon River in White Salmon Washington provided us a fun day rafting. With its class 3 and 4 rapids, it gave us plenty of thrills.
Making a huge difference is so many pet’s lives have been an ever growing passion. We all love our pets and want them to be around a long time. Nutrition plays an important role in how they thrive. Food is a very powerful medicine. A little extra time spent with their diets will bring you many rewards. They are worth it.
